2002 honda odyssey review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. More power, more features bolster a real contender. introductionthe honda odyssey is at the top of its class. It's a big van, and does everything a minivan is supposed to do exceedingly well. Nifty features such as a disappearing rear seat, a deep storage well in the floor and optional power sliding doors allow it haul to groceries home, kids to school, adults to dinner and plywood to the shop, all with equal convenience. for 2002, odyssey will haul all those things a little faster, with 30 more horsepower than before. Amazingly, fuel efficiency has not suffered, thanks at least partly to a new five-speed automatic transmission. All leather-clad odysseys come with electric seat warmers. Leather-covered seats are a prerequisite for the dvd entertainment system, which adds another $500, and for the $2,000 factory-installed gps navigation system. The latter works in conjunction with a dvd-generated map to give route instructions within major cities in the 48 continental states. standard odyssey safety features include dual front airbags, side-impact airbags, and a three-point seatbelt/shoulder harness for each of the seven seating positions. Child safety seat anchors for the second and third-row seats were added last year. It's about the same size as the dodge caravan and chrysler town & country. It's a little larger than the toyota sienna, but slightly smaller than the ford windstar, chevrolet venture, oldsmobile silhouette and pontiac montana. honda took a safe, utilitarian approach to the design of its minivan. The odyssey is neither as distinctive as daimlerchrysler's minivans nor as anonymous as the sienna. The rear doors slide open, making it easier to get in at crowded shopping-center parking lots. interiora large, roomy interior is a direct benefit of the odyssey's size. The floor height is relatively low, making it easy to get in and out. Even the door handles, inside and out, are large, comfortable, and, well, handy. The rear hatch swings up, and a low lift-over height makes it easy to load cargo in back. the power sliding doors that come with the odyssey ex are easy to operate. Either door can be opened or closed by pressing a button on the dash or key fob, or by moving the inside or outside levers on the door. For safety, the driver can defeat the system by pressing a switch next to the steering wheel. Additionally, the doors cannot be opened when the vehicle is either locked or moving. space is plentiful by every measure. There's lots of headroom and comfortable accommodations for six passengers. The front seats are comfortable. They don't provide as much side support as i like, but the flat seat bottoms make getting in and out easier, which is a benefit when managing munchkins. Driver visibility is excellent. the third-row bench seat can be folded into a deep recess, leaving a completely flat floor aft of the second seat for carrying cargo. It is a relatively simple process, though the third-seat headrests must be removed and stowed in side pockets first. But the main benefit of second-row buckets is improved access to the third row. Second-row seats are removable, which, with the rear seats folded into the floor, turns the odyssey into a carpeted cargo van. That's a nice convenience for those spontaneous stops at the home-improvement center. The second-row bucket seats are adjustable fore and aft, allowing optimum comfort for six passengers. Adjustable shoulder belts for the front and second-rows add comfort. temperature and fan controls are available for all three rows, along with fully adjustable vents. Materials are top-grade, and the interior color scheme is attractive. The 2000-2001 models already offered an array of cup holders and map pockets, but honda has added more for 2002, along with handy bag hooks and grab rails. driving impressionodyssey drives and rides like a minivan. It accelerates briskly, as quickly as many sport-utilities. Fuel economy is average. Honda's v6 is smooth and quiet, though it makes its presence known under full acceleration. On a bumpy road into washington, d. C., however, the suspension seemed to lack sufficient damping. Potholes are felt and heard as rattles emanating from the rear of the vehicle. Odyssey is easily maneuvered in close-quarters, better than most suvs. big, well-designed mirrors are easy to adjust and provide good rearward vision. The view from the inside mirror is obscured a bit by the rearmost headrests, but they are removable. Sound quality from the premium six-speaker stereo is mediocre. It has difficulty reproducing any music with a broad range. Distortion occurs at higher volumes and the system lacks the efficiency to reproduce low-volume segments well. summarylast year, we wrote that the 2001 odyssey equaled the efforts of daimlerchrysler and other leading competitors. For 2002, more power (with no loss in economy), better brakes and upgraded interior features move odyssey even closer to the top of its class. Its magic third seat is a neat trick. The pt cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for its sprightly performance. The cruiser's taller body adds not only a unique look, but also extra room for people and cargo. its interior volume and versatility compares well to a small suv. Yet the pt cruiser is shorter in length than a neon, making it easy to park. And it's easy on gas. now in its fifth year, with annual sales of more than 100,000, the cruiser is a familiar sight, but people are still intrigued by it. For starters, it's difficult to define within existing automotive marketing segments, leading chrysler to call the pt cruiser too cool to categorize. That fire comes in the form of 220 horsepower in the gt; a more affordable 180-horsepower turbo is also available. if there's anything cooler than the standard pt cruiser, it's the pt cruiser convertible. The base convertible 19,405) is similarly equipped. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags and most of the limited's luxury goodies. Leather sport seats and a power moonroof are also standard. Seventeen-inch wheels. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all there is to the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive. by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon. Yet with 63 inches from the pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser sedan is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design. the gt sedan is distinguished from the other models by its chromed wheels, larger air intakes, and a spoiler on its liftgate. The spoiler 150) is optional on the limited. the design of the convertible is quite a bit different from that of the sedan. The convertible looks shorter than the sedan, but isn't; maybe it's the single long door on each side that creates this illusion. It's certainly lower, by almost 3 inches. Closer examination reveals that the windshield is raked more radically and uses a different a-pillar design. With the top up, the convertible looks like a custom chopped-top hot rod. Pretty cool. with its top down, the pt cruiser convertible's high tail and integrated sport bar remind us of the old volkswagen cabrio. But where the vw's side windows sealed against its symbolic roll bar (almost as on a prewar convertible sedan), the chrysler's windows seal against each other for a more modern convertible profile. Its slightly narrower and color-keyed sport bar sits behind the windows, inside the car, and is aerodynamically designed to minimize wind noise. A nice boot is provided that dresses up the appearance with the top down. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 120. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The standard stereo sounds tinny; we haven't spent much time with the new infinity system. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down. a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The front seats in the three lower-line models have a reasonable amount of bolstering to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side. The gt also features a leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-silver spokes, and bright accents on the pedals. roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. The sedan's 121. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car, though it certainly doesn't have the ambience of those cars. 1959 austin healey bugeye sprite. I have no history on the car, but it appears to have been used for racing at some point in it's life. The interior has no trim, and the windshield and top have been removed. If anyone has any information on the car i would be happy to hear about it. The car is very rusty, particularly the hood and the floors under the seats. However, the doors open and close well. The seat frames are also pretty rusty. Has some neat features: oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator with an auxiliary cooling fan, hood hold-down belt, flip forward hood, roll bar. The front tires appear to be old racing tires, the rears are modern tires. The mileage is unknown and i have not tried to start the car nor have i tested any of the systems. Therefore, please assume that everything on the car will need rebuilding or repair. The car does roll, but has no brakes. Vin plate is in place and i have a clear title. There are no other parts or spares included. I would love to keep this car, but then again, i would love to keep every old car. The fact is i just don't have the time to deal with this car right now. Although there is a "buy-it-now" price, there is also a "make an offer" option. I'm a reasonable person and i don't offend easily. I will help in facilitating pick-up/shipping of the car. If the deposit is not paid within the allotted time, the sale will be cancelled.
